The festival hopes to welcome around 100,000 people this year
The festival comes back to the capital for a fourth year.
From 26 March to 6 of April, London is opening its doors to gamers celebrating gaming and interactive entertainment. The event is organised by Game London in partnership with UK Interactive Entertainment.
The London Games Festival team hopes to welcome around 100,000 people thought to be attending the ten-day event. This year’s festival is set to be one of the biggest games’ events in the world.
On this year’s agenda is Ensemble- an exhibition featuring people from black, minority and ethnic backgrounds who work in gaming. EGX Rezzed- a show featuring pre-release indie games will be back after last year’s success. The BAFTA Games Awards will also take place during the festival.
Elliot Turner, an avid gamer, is looking forward to this year’s events. He says: “Watching the gaming community grow into the culture it is today has been great.” Turner watches and occasionally streams himself play the game Overwatch on the live streaming platform for gamers- Twitch.
Kemi Agboola, a gamer thinks more could be done to improve representation in the gaming industry. She says: “I think what could make more people want to come to this year’s festival is a greater variety of panels including women and those from ethnic backgrounds who work in gaming. It’s really hard to identify with a lot of people already in the industry.”
This year’s festival will take place across a number of venues across the capital.
